I had always wondered what that imposing building with the bold-looking architecture which stands at Dhoby Ghaut, incongruous with the surrounding buildings, was.
It is the fairly recently constructed School Of The Arts (also known as SOTA). A while ago, while caught in the rain, I was forced to take refuge there as there was no sheltered path to Cathay (nor to Plaza Singapura) and so snapped a few shots.
Apologies for the quality of the shots though, for the rain seems to have fogged up the lens a little. This is the exterior that most people see from the outside, looking from Cathay.
This is the interior. I think it would be quite a unique feel to study in a place like that right smack in the middle of the city.
These pictures were actually taken on the upper levels of the school. Which had an exit from which you could walk down into the city (in this case, into the pouring rain)... That's Cathay on the far right...
And another one from which you could make a dash for it into Cathay's carpark loading bay and then try to find your way down to the lower levels.
Cool place, really. I heard there was a nice garden somewhere higher up. Will maybe check that out some time - on a sunny day.
